Brief Resume

Dr. N. B. Manik born in 1969 graduated with Physics Honours from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 1991 and subsequently did his M.Sc. in Physics from the same University in 1993. After M. Sc degree he had joined in his research work under the CSIR fellowship scheme. During his research period he had worked in the areas of Cryogenic instrumentation particularly in the development of cryogenic level meter using opto-sensor. He designed and fabricated an optical cryostat including the measurement and control of temperature inside the cryostat. The study of the performance of some opto-devices like light emitting diodes and photodetectors at low temperature was carried out during his research. He got the Ph.D degree from Jadavpur University . After his Ph. D he had joined as a lecturer in M. Sc. Electronics Science Programme in Physics Department of Jadavpur University in 1997.

During his teaching period he had taken different classes on analog and digital electronics, optical fibres, opto-electronics, semiconductor device physics etc. Several students have already completed their Ph.D. under his supervision and at present few others are also working. Different research project from UGC, DST, DRDO, CSIR have been completed by him. He had also delivered invited talk in different national and international conference.

His recent interest is to study and development of opto devices using semiconducting conjugated polymers and organic dyes. His publication both in national and international journals proves his ability both in the field of instrumentation and material science.

In the year 2004 he was awarded BOYSCAST Fellowship of DST, Govt. of India and was working under Prof. G. Paasch,, IFW, Dresden, Germany. During this period he had worked on charge transport in organic amorphous solid. He had solved many instrumental problems of different industries.
